This sculpture of Prince was a commission for a fellow fun agility goer. Prince is a border collie who likes to hold his ears in a particular way. This way of holding his ears was what we decided would be the defining feature for the sculpture.
This gallery shows some of the progress from the beginning and the rough forming process, through to the mould and wax master created by the foundry. Then onto the bronze and finishing.
Susie has a field where her fun agility course is set up. It changes weekly, to give the dogs a different challenge. There is a barn that Susie uses as an office and is where we always go for a cup of tea or coffee half way through the session. The wall facing the double doors was where we decided to place the drawing.
I set up my camera, roughly framing the jumps as I wanted them to be in the picture. Then I just set it going. After a few attempts, I managed to get a film containing this image. It seemed to capture the sense of fun that the dogs are having, so I decided that that would be the image to work from.
